A Principled Approach

Introduction: At Cuebiq, we embrace privacy as a core value, and it is integral to our approach to data collection. We are committed to providing you with an excellent user experience and clarity about how we collect location data, what we use it for and more information about our privacy framework — that’s why we created this Privacy Center.

Why Cuebiq Cares: We continually evolve our privacy approach to adhere to new regulatory advances and we believe it’s our responsibility to communicate honestly and openly about our stance and commitment to consumer privacy. We’ve built our privacy framework around four key principles:

  1. Consent
  2. Transparency
  3. Control
  4. Accountability

To learn more about these principles and our privacy framework, please explore this Privacy Center. For any questions or concerns, please contact us.

For more information about privacy, you can view our Privacy Policy or read about our Social Impact initiatives to learn how responsible and transparent data collection can be used to improve communities across the globe.

Transparency

Because we believe in open and honest communication, Cuebiq requires all App partners to disclose their relationship with Cuebiq, directly or by category, in their Privacy Policy. In those privacy policies, you can easily find clear and transparent descriptions of what information is being collected and how it is being used. You can also find what options you have when it comes to withdrawing your consent, accessing copies of your data, and exercising your privacy rights with regard to sharing your location data.

In 2022, Cuebiq worked with the NAI to create Voluntary Enhanced Standards for precise location information solution providers and was a charter signatory. In 2023, Cuebiq was awarded a US patent for METHODS FOR LOCATION-BASED IDENTIFICATION BLURRING. This privacy-enhancing technology was developed and deployed in-house by Cuebiq specifically to obfuscate sensitive locations years before it was required.

Control

Consumers should always be in control of their data. That’s why we provide users with several options to easily opt out of location sharing at any time.

Please see below for a list of five methods you can use to opt out of Cuebiq sharing and links for instructions.

  1. The NAI Mobile Opt-Out Assistance Page: https://optout.networkadvertising.org/
  2. The TrustArc Opt-Out App: https://www.trustarc.com/consumer-resources/privacy-app/
  3. Turning Off Location Services: You can opt out of sharing your location data by turning off “location services”: https://www.lifewire.com/turn-off-mobile-location-services-4156238
  4. Check Your App Providers Menu: Some of our app partners offer a separate “Cuebiq Opt-Out” option directly within their settings. To find this option, check the app settings. Please note that this varies by app.
  5. Cuebiq Privacy Request: Excercise your privacy rights by requesting to opt-out or do not sell or share your personal information

We want you to be in control of your data sharing at all times. If you have any questions or need assistance with the above opt-out methods, please let us know by emailing privacy@cuebiq.com.

Accountability

From the very start, the Cuebiq team has believed in the importance of demonstrating our commitment to protecting user privacy and showing the steps we’ve taken to ensure compliance. Because location data can be a sensitive topic due to the insights it may provide about consumers’ habits, interests, and day-to-day journeys, we’d like to highlight the steps we’ve taken to protect your privacy.

1.) We were one of the first location providers to become an NAI member and are reviewed annually.

2.) We have been certified by TrustArc & TAG and are Privacy Shield registered.

3.) Our Sensitive Points of Interest Policy, launched in 2020, is another step toward protecting consumer privacy. This policy covers sensitive points of interest (SPOIs) and/or legally or culturally sensitive categories. Cuebiq will not allow location data from these POIs and/or categories.

You can view our Privacy Policy for more information on our privacy framework. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch with us.
